A discussion aimed at strengthening the economic cooperation between Ethiopia and Korea was held Minister of State for Finance Mrs. Sumerita Gramsue discussed with the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Kang Won Sam on the possibility of strengthening the economic cooperation between Ethiopia and Korea. In their discussions, they advised on COICA’s future areas of cooperation, including increasing production capacity in Ethiopia, strengthening health care services, increasing response to climate change, strengthening resilience to violence and social cohesion through a gender-based approach, and watershed development. Koika is a long-term development partner in Ethiopia and has promised to increase its support by 40 percent better than in the past. State Minister of Finance Samerita Sawaswe (Koika) has expressed his appreciation for the development support of 294 million dollars in Ethiopia. According to the information we received from the ministry, they mentioned that the budget of around 30 million dollars has been allocated for the financial year 2023 (COICA) and that the support is 36 percent higher compared to the previous year. This partnership is a good development for Ethiopia and it is hoped that it will strengthen the cooperation of the two sides in the coming years.
