Minister of Labor and Skills Muferihat Kamil said that the government’s attention to the development of the digital industry has the potential to make Ethiopia competitive in the sector.
An advisory forum was held in the presence of entrepreneurs and stakeholders engaged in the sector in the digital industry.
At the forum, Mrs. Muferihat Kamil said that “outsourcing” work in the digital industry creates job opportunities for many citizens and earns foreign currency, so the government is paying great attention to the development of the sector.
He mentioned that more than 15,000 citizens have been created in the short time since the sector was launched. He said that the sector has not yet been tapped in terms of its vast potential and has brought many opportunities to Ethiopia.
The Minister of State for Employment and Skills Ato Kylange Tilahun said, “Because we did not enter the sector early, we have missed a lot of job opportunities and a lot of foreign currency.”
As he added, the changes that have been registered in a short period of time show that if we work with the right policy and cooperation with partners, there is a wide opportunity for Ethiopia to use its grace in the sector.
According to the information of the Ministry, the parties engaged in the sector will work hard to solve the challenges and create a favorable environment for them to take on “outsourced” international works and deliver them efficiently.
